Lubbock's official preliminary to the Miss America Pageant
  Official Rules And Regulations
 

Entrant agrees to abide by all the rules of the local, state, and National Miss America Organization now in effect or as announced hereafter.  Entrant agrees that the time, manner, and method of judging shall solely be within the discretion of the local, state, or national pageant and the decision of the judges is final.

Citizenship:  A contestant must be a citizen of the United States. 

Residence:  A contestant may enter this pageant if she is or has been a resident of Texas for a period of six (6) months immediately preceding the time she makes application to enter the Miss Lubbock Pageant. You may claim eligibility based on status as a student if you have successfully completed at least one semester as a full-time (at least 12 credit hours) student, and presently attending classes full-time at an accredited college or university in Texas.

Age:  A contestant must not be less than seventeen (17) years, nor more that twenty-four (24) years of age on December 31, 2008.

Gender and Status:   IIs and always has been a female, single, never married, not pregnant and has never been pregnant. Not the parent of an adopted child.

Education:  Contestant must be a high school graduate or have successfully completed the G.E.D. testing program for high school equivalency or have successfully completed the academic requirements for entry into a four year college/university degree program by July 30th, 2008.

Character:  A contestant must be of good moral character and shall not have been convicted of any crimes and shall possess talent, poise, personality, intelligence, charm and physical fitness.

Health:  Contestant must be in good health and can, to the best of her knowledge, participate fully and without limitation in any program activity.

National Service Platform Requirement:  Each contestant participating in a Miss America system pageant is required to register for Children’s Miracle Network on-line at MissAmerica4Kids.org. Your expected minimum local pageant goal is $100 but you may select a higher goal. Donations must be made by 11/19/2007 and verified or you will not be allowed to compete.

Local Commitment:  The winner will represent the City of Lubbock, Texas and will be expected to promote the City of Lubbock as well as attend and perform her talent at various civic and other related events during her term as title holder. The City of Lubbock will be celebrating its Centennial beginning in 2008. Miss Lubbock 2008 will be involved in many planned events … therefore; she will be required to reside in the Lubbock area during her full term as Miss Lubbock.

Entrant agrees that if she is selected as the winner of this pageant, she will not sign a management contract with any individual, corporation, partnership, or agency, and that she will not give any written or verbal endorsement of any mercantile commodity or commercial organization; nor will she permit her photographs to be used in connection with any advertised commodity or service not associated with this contest, without the permission of the pageant.

Talent: A contestant must possess and display talent in a, not more than two (2) minute talent routine.  This routine must be presented live and not by way of motion picture film.  Vocal or instrumental recordings may be used in conjunction with her live presentation.  This talent may be singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, dramatic reading, art display, dress designing, etc., or she may give a maximum two (2) minute talk.  A contestant may be either amateur or professional.

A contestant is precluded from competition in another contest in the same year after having been selected the winner in any local pageant; nor can she succeed herself in the same local pageant during the franchise year.  The contestant shall not have been a previous state finalist who competed in the national finals.
